SUPPOSED DROWNING.

A THAMES PASSENGER MISSING

Thames, this day. While the steamer Rotomahana was on her way from Auckland to the Thames last nis;ht, one of her passengers disappeared, and is believed to have been drowned. One of the crew found some shoes with a letter inside upon a box, a double peaked cap, and a steerage ticket. The passenger was not ceen to lenve the steamer at the Thames Wharf. He was last seen at the Sandspit, when the captain and steward went round for the tickets. He was about 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches in height, thinly built, had very long whiskers, and waa dressed in a grey sac coat, but the colour of his trousers is not known. His name is unknown. LATER. The name of the missing passenger from the Rotomahana is Henry Whitford, whose sister-iD-lavv resides in Karaka Creek. There is little doubt but that he has been drowned. Ho was in a delicate state of health and despondent.
