ALLEGED BREACH OF THE FACTORIES ACT.

At the Police Court this afternoon, before Dr. Giles, R.M., John Yon Breda was charged on the 13th April with being the occupier of a factory or workroom within the meaning of the Factoriea' Acb, 1391, which factory or workroom waa cot registered. Mr E. Mahony for the defendant, pleaded nob guilty. Mr McAlister appeared for tbe informant. Mr H. Fergusson, Inspector of Factories, waa also preaent, in support of the charge. The informant in hia evidence abated that Mr Breda was not registered. He had been written to twice on the matter. In cross-examination, witness said tho defendant had paid £1 Is fee, bub ib waa insufficient. The feo was 28s, on account of defendant having over 30 hands employed.
