UNIVERSITY COLLEGE COUNCIL.
The oidinary meeting of the> University College Council met yesterday .afternoon, when there were present: Colonel,Haultain (Vice-Cbairman), Miss Edger, Messrs Crowther, Udy, Hesketh, Dilworfch, Jackson Palmer, Bishop Ccwie and Dr. Kellar.
New Member.—A letter was received from the Board of Education, intimating bhab Mr Udy had been appointed bo till the seat formerly occupier! by Mr Luke on the University College Council. Colonel Haultain welcomed Mr Udy, and made some complimentary remarks regarding bhe manner in which Mr Luko had discharged his duties in connection with fche Council.
Wanganui Examinations. —On tho motion of Colonel Haultain, Mr Tread well was appointed supervisor for bhe Wanganui collegiate examinations. Salary.—The question, of raising fche salary of Mr Gittos, assistant to Professor Thomas, camo up before the- Council, and after some discussion was referred to tho Finance Committee.
The Professorial Board.—Ths Council went into Committee to consider the report issued by the- Special Commibtee on bhe letters received by the Council from ihe Professorial Board. After a long discussion it was agreed to adjourn the consideration of the Committee's report to a special meeting to be held on Monday week. Ib was further agreed bhaba Committee be appointed to drafb a lebter to the Professorial Board to bo submitted to the Council. The Chairman of the Council, Bishop Cowie, Messrs McKellar and Hesketh were appointed a Committeo.
