ONE EFFECT OF THE BANKING SCARE.
INCREASE IN POST OFFICE
DEPOSITS,
Melbourne, April 18. During the past week Post Office Savings Bank deposits increased by £90,000. London, April 17. Sir C. G. Duffy denies that the colonies have been recklessly lavish. In land speculation was a natural fault; bub the present difficulties will have a salutary effect. It would be impossible to permanently injure their credit.
