Drunkenness. — Two first offenders were each fined 5s 0r24 hours' hard labour in default. Another one, who did not appear forfeited his bail of 2()s.—William Robinson for having been drunk was fined 10s, or 48 hours' in default.

A Serious Charge.—William Powell was further remanded foe a week on the charge of having used certain instruments with intent to procure miscarriage.—Sergeant Gamble appeared for tho prosecutiou, and Mr T. Cotter for tho defence. On the application of the latter, bail was enlarged.

"Father and Daughter. — Thomas Richard Gilluian was charged with having failed to provide adequate support for hia daughter Mary Selinntrillman.— Defendant said he was not in a position to dolt.— Mr C. E. Matthews appeared on behalf of the complainant. Miss Uillman deposed that she was 41 years of age, and unable to maintain herself. She could not live at homo on. account of her stepmother. Her father was well to do. Thomas R. Gillman said that his second wife had never lived in the same house with his daughter. When his first wife diod, his two daughters had about £900 worth of stock divided between thorn. He had asked his daughter to stay with his sister at tho shop, bub she rofueed. His wifo had not in any way interfered with his daughter. The evidence was somewhat lengthy. At its termination, His Worship said the complaint could not be entertainod. She had not shown any specific grounds nor had she shown that 6he was a destitute person within the meaning of tho Act.—The complaint was therefore dismissed.
