Referring to tho announcement that the Government had decided to remit the duty on cyanide- of potassium when required for gold saving purposes, the "Te Aroha " news flayu : "Ib would seem as if this material would be in large request for use in the process of gold saving. It is the chief ingredienb in the chemical used by the Cassel'a process company, amounting to about 70 per cent., but our tariff is so constructed that although cyanido of potassium was liable to a duty of 15 per cent., amounting to about 4d per lb, the Cafleel process material came in duty free. Of late, a considerable aroounb of cyanide of potassium has been imported, the Sylvia company having imported seven tons within the last yoar. The use of the chomical will no doubt be considerably extended by thia remission of duty."
