DEATH OF LADY BELL.

The death of Lady Bsll is announced, news having reached here that sho died in London on the 13bh.

The sad intelligence was not altogether unexpected, as -Lady Bell .was in very delicate health when she was here a few weeks ago. Sir Dillon and Lady Bell went Home in the Tongariro, which left here on April 16th, nnd arrived .at Plymouth on the 2Gfcb May. Lady Bell was one of . the earliest settlers,' having arrived here in 1843. She was then Miss Hart, and was a sister of Mrs Levin. She married soon after, and lived many, years in New Zealand with her husband, greatly respected. She leaves six sons, and one daughter'married to Mr Scobie McKenzie, tho well-known M.H.R. The sons are Mr F. HI Bell, Mayor of Wellington, and member of the . firm of Bell, Gully "aud ' Izard j Alfred Bell, manager and part, owner of the Waihmo Station, Shag Valley, Otago; Ernest, member of the. firm of Bell, Gully and Izard ; . Arthur, Defence Engineer of the New Zealand Government; Rev. ,D. Bell, settled in England ; and Frederick, settled in Sydney. The deceased lady, was 70 years of age. Much sympathy is feib for Sir Dillon and the family. . .The Mayor has cancelled all his public engagements.
