Theke was a very large attendance yester- '•' day at the Pakuranga Hunt Club's opening tneeb ot the season, which took place ab tha residence of Lieutenant-Colonel Dawson, Ellerslie. The Pakuranga Hunb Club is a popular one, and tho many new faces, both spectators and riders, visible yesterday afternoon, seem to promise still greater j popularity for the future.
Considerably over one hundred people were present, many of whom were mosb hospitably entertained ab, luncheon by Colonel and Mrs Dawson. Soon after two o'clock the riders mounted, the hounds were cast off by Mr Tom Brown, and the hunt for poor Fussy began. The hounds are many of them young, 3J out of the 16 couples having only recently arrived from England. Hares were very scarce, only one being found, after a " try back," in tha Ladies' Mile. Bloomfield, Mrs Segar Buckland, Mrs Ware, the Misses Bull, Kerr-Taylor, Percival, Dunn6t, Hesketh, Mr W. Percival (Master), Lieu-tenant-Colonel Dawson and his two sons, Messrs McLaughlin, W. R. Bloomfield, T. Kerr-Taylor, Segar Buckland, and lieutenant Stantield (H.M.s. Ringarooma). Traps of various descriptions were seen driving about, keeping as near the huntsmen as possible. A pretty tandem was tooled by Mr Goodson, of Hawera. Mr J. r". A. Philson, Dr. Collins, Mrs A. K. Taylor and family, Mr Fen ton, Mrs Meldrum Elliott, Mrs Walker, the Misses Wallace, etc., were also driving. Ab tho close of the meet, Mr J. B. Whyte entertained a party of the hunters. ,- ....... /
