Acceptances and general entrie3 for the Takapuna. Jockey Club Winter Meeting are due to-night. Mr Morrin Bays Sylvia is in foal, bub the old mare is very weak on her legs. While Mr D. A. McLeod was in Wellington he laid 100 to 6 about Voerengang and Stepniak for the next New Zealand Cup. For the next Melbourne Cup he laid 200 to 6 each against Tirailleur, Freedom, Marvel, Malvolio, Correze, Portsea, Stromboli and Oxide. The Pakuranga Hunt Club hold a race meeting on the 11 th June. The programme was passed at the A.R.C. yesterday. Mr Richard Duder is expected to arrive here with Cuirassier on the 9bh June. The Pakuranga Hunt Club opened tlie season this afternoon. A meeting of persons interested in the formation of a Trotting and Pony Clab is to be held ab Cambridge on Saturday night. The recantly-formed Auckland Coursing Club are endeavouring to get a Plumpton put on the Ellerslie Racecourse. Messrs McEwin and Fenton meet the A.R.C. Committee ab Ellerslie on Friday nexb anent the matter. W. Butler, who lately trained for Messrs Hearn and Kennedy, will take up his quarters in Wanganui shortly. Butler will bring with him the following horses —Fraternite, St. Malo, and Split Link. It is more than a mere coincidence, remarks the " Bulletin," that in all his winning races Mat Harris takes Marvel through on the outside, while in the losing ones he chanceg to take the inside. The Final Handicap Steeplechase ab the Egmonb Meeting is reported to have been a "ding-dong set-to from start to finish, Whalebone having the best of ib right through. Auckland made a big bid for victory up the straight, but although he was catching Whalebone fib every stride, he did nob succeed in getting nearer than a neck.
