McLeod was in Wellington he laid 100 to 6 about Voerengang and Stepniak for the next New Zealand Cup. For the next Melbourne Cup he laid 200 to 6 each against Tirailleur, Freedom, Marvel, Malvolio, Correze, Portsea, Stromboli and Oxide. The Pakuranga Hunt Club hold a race meeting on the 11 th June. The programme was passed at the A.R.C. yesterday. Mr Richard Duder is expected to arrive here with Cuirassier on the 9bh June. The Pakuranga Hunt Club opened tlie season this afternoon. A meeting of persons interested in the formation of a Trotting and Pony Clab is to be held ab Cambridge on Saturday night. Auckland made a big bid for victory up the straight, but although he was catching Whalebone fib every stride, he did nob succeed in getting nearer than a neck.
