A CONJUNCTION OF VENUS AND THE MOON.
This (Saturday) evening a closer conjunction than usual of Venue and the moon will take place, and should be rather a pretty sight. In Auckland their last distance of centres will occur at 5.10 p.m. local time, and will measure 49' of arc. In latitudes north of 22 degrees south, Venus will be occulted by the moon. She is now within a month of her greatoeb degree of brightness, and at the present time she is at her greatest easterly elongation from the sun. As soen through the telescope she presents the appearance of a half moon, which will contract to the croscent form by the middle of July. S. J. Lambert.
