LANTERN MISSION
The Magic-Lantern Mission which has been so successful in many parts ot England within the last year or so, is about to be tried in Auckland. Mr G. Aldridge, last evening, delivered a very able and instructive address iv the Foresters' Hall on "The Life of Christ." Many scenes in connection with the Saviour's life rocorded in the Gospels were illustrated by photographs thrown on a large screen, by the aid of a very powerful oxyhydrogen dissolving lantern owned and managed by Mr 0. Cooper. The idea ot the Lantern Mission originated ivith a Sunday-school teacher in a Email town in England. He thought the Bible might be made moro interesting and instructive, and the preaching command greater attention, if illustrated by good pictures. The idea was carried out, and proved so great a success that Mr Stead, editor of the "Review of Reviews," was so struck with ifc that he published an artiole in his magazine advocating the Lantern Mission as a good thing for the churches to engage in. The result has been that very many towns in England now have their Lantern Mission. The services at the Foresters' Hall are to be continued each Wednesday evening during the winter months. The Church of Christ is to be congratulated for the inauguration of the lantern Mission in New Zealand. Tomorrow night, Mr Chas. Cooper gives an interesting exhibition, " The Passion of Our Lord, , ' in the Foresters' Hall, Karatigahape Koad.
