MEETING OF CREDITORS.
A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of W. B. Jackson, gum merchant of Hohoura, was held at 11 o'clock today at the office of the Official Assignee. Five creditors were present, and the debtor, who was also represented by Mr W. Thorne. Mr J. Lawson presided, and read the sworn statement of the debtor, which has already been published. Ho stated that the unsecured debts amounted to £1,696 osßd and the secured £1,482 9s ; the assets wero set down at £1,930 9s 10d, of which amount £738 was book debts, leaving a surplus of £134. The debtor further stated that the actual cash owing to him amounted to £2,242 7a lid, which he had valued at £738.
Mr Tewsley moved that the stock-in-trade, plant, including boats, winch, saddles, etc., horses and cattle, at Kohoura and Mangamouku, respectively, be sold by public auction, as Mr Houston may think most justifiable, it being a recommendation to him to withdraw from sale and send to Auckland any stock-in-trade and other convenient removables that may not fetch fair prices.'all kauri gum in stock to be shippod to Mr A. Heather on behalf of the creditors. This was seconded by Mr White and agreed to. Amongst the assets was a block of 5,584 acres of land at Hohoura, upon which there was a lien for £1,100. The debtor stated that adjoining land Eold at 5s per acre. There were 1,500 acres of level land which he considered worth £1 per acre. There was also a volcanic mountain that was good soil. The remaiuder consisted of sandhills of little value. The creditors decided that this land bo sold by public auction in Auckland, also land at Mount Albert and Mangamouku. It was olbo decided to appoint Messrs Beaeley and Chilcott to collect the book debts. Amounts to the extent of £326 14s 9d were ordered to bo a first charge on the assets.
