The announcement of the death, at Wanganui, of Mis David Lundon (wife of our newly-appointed Collector of Customs!, will bo received with general regret by the many friends of the family. Tlio deceased iady by her many estimable qualities had endeared herself to all with whom she came in contact, and her death will cause a void which will indeed be hard to fill. Mr Lundon and family were making the necessary preparations for an early departure trom Wanganui for this city, and ib is believed that the excitement and worry consequent thereon induced a severe attack of heart disease, from which, the deceased in her advanced age was unable to rally. As will be seen elsewhere, tho remains are beiner brought to Auckland for interment, and tho funeral is advertised to leave tbe Onehunga Wharf for theSymonds-street Cemetery to-morrow immediately after the arrival of tho Gairloch from New Plymouth. Arrangements are being made for a monster aquatic display in our harbour on Tuesday week, as a fitting send-off to our Governor. Every available pulling, sailingboat, and steamor will be called into service, and assistance will be sought from surrounding ports. A3 the time is fixed for the evening, ib is to be hrusted thab this call to water of Aucklanders will be responded to with enthusiasm, when such a sight will be witnessed in our harbour that wili live long in the memory, of our departing Governor, which we Aucklanders will feel proud of.
