(BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
Wellington, this day. The Trades and Labour Council has drawn un a manifesto to the Trade Unionists with regard to the action of the Council, passing a" resolution claiming the right to be consulted in reerard to the selection and appointment of labour representatives "to tho Legislativo Council. The manifesto states thab tho resolution upheld tho fundamental principle of Liberalism, viz,, the right of bhe people to choose their representatives in Parliament, and the Council contended thab as the capitalists have always been in a majority iv the Legislative Council tho unionists of Wellington as a numerous section of ■workmen as well as any other labour organisation has a right to a voice in tho selection of such representatives. Iho manifest denies thab in claiming thab right they were dictating to the Government. In what they had done they had aoted earnestly in tho interest of labour and according to their inte ligence, and therefore they feared not tho cei*mire of their opponents.
