THE WAINUI.
At 5.30 a.m. to-day tho Union Steamship Company's steamer Wainui, Capt. Crawshaw, returned to port from her usual Island trip down to Tonga and Samoa, bringing back a small quantity of cargo and several passengers. Of tho round trip Mr J. A. Tubby, who is now purser, states :—
"We left Auckland on the Slsi: January, caller! afc Russoll, and arrived at Nukualofa at daylight on the 27fch. Wβ discharged cargo and left again same day. Called at Haapai on 28th, and arrived at Vavau at 8 U.m. same day. We left Vavau again at 6 p.m. on 29th, and dropped anchor in Apia Harbour at 0 a.m. 31st, having experienced continuous heavy rains between Nukualofa and Apia. We left Apia on the homeward journey at 4 p.m. on February 1, called at Vavau and Haapai, ar,d arrived at Nukualofa at 6 a.m. on the 4th. We loaded 3,556 bunchee bunanas, and left again at 5 p.m. for Auckland. We experienced strong variable winds, heavy seas, and fine weather to arrival."
