CHRISTMAS NUMBER
The Christmas number of "Black find White" is now published. It is undoubtedly one of the finest of the season's many illustrated periodicals. Its short tales and verses are the productions of famous living authors, and will furnish some hours of delightful occupation for all classes of society. But the pictures, the handsome engravings in tints of green, fawn and heavenly blue, these alone would beautify any parlour table in the colony, and prove an endless source of entertainment to callers. The study on the frontispiece represents v family group gathered round the Christmas fire, whoso reflective glow illumines their earnest facos. Besides handsome and effective illustrations to reading matter, there are numerous full-page blocks in the above-mentioned shades. Accompanying each number is a handsome, oleograph of Mrs Siddons, tho well known actress, from a painting in the National Gallery. Buy the Christmas number of ,l Black and White " and you have made one Christmas investment that you will continually rejoice in. The number contains stories in the best style of the following eminent novelists :•- "Sir Edward Orme," by Henry James; "Tho Children of The Zodiac," by Rudyard Kipling ; "Li a Pioneer Restaurant," by Bret Harte. Other interesting matter of a descriptive nature appears.
