FRANK MELTON'S LUCK.
OPINIONS OF THE PRESS,
A Southern paper says:—"Outwardly bhis book has the appearance of a shilling shocker, bub inwardly it is crammed full of love-making, adventure, description of station, goldmining and bushfighting life in New Zealand, together with quite a respectable allowance of the history of the colony woven in."
Wairarapa "Standard:"—" Thi3 is a capital story. By its combination of fiction with fact, of stirring historical occurrences with love-making and up-country race meetings, ' Frank Melton's Luck' does something to roll away the reproach that wo have no distinctive literature, nothing redolent of the land and life of New Zealand. . . . Mr Cottle has a great gifb of description, and with the rainuto touches of a Defoe, he makes his readers realise the scenes he puts before them."
" Northern Advocate ;"—" Of scenes typical of station life, the cattle muster, the pig hunt and the Christmas party aro admirably describod, and the- truth, accuracy, and vividness of the depiction given of the gold fever in ' the good old mining days,' and of the Hauhau War. . . . can be attested by those who took part in them."
