ONSLOW ROAD.
(To the Editor.)
Sir.—Now thab the Mount Albert Road Board have disposed of the nuisance that was playing such havoc with the health of the ratepayers, they should set about bhe eonsbruction of Onslow Road, and this for the better ventilation of thab portion of the district thab has been so long exposed to tho unwholesome vapours rising from the city refuse. It will bo long before the rooms in Kingsland East get thoroughly rid of the evil effects of having been daily filled with such a poisonous atmosphere, and no better plan could be devised than opening up a communication with the Mount Roskill Road, from which the country air would sweep along and purify the suburb. Whether fcho railway line should be straightened, or the station removed to the Christians' Meeting House, are matters to be decided by the Railway Commissioners, who have the entire control of the working railways; though one thing is certain, some change must be made, for the passer-by has frequently seen tho. two gates, at tho Christians' Meeting House standing wide open. The stone fences ab both sides of the gates ate being pulled down, and the stone wall on tho next side of tho road is considered by the public an encroachmenb on their right of way. and is rapidly sharing the same fate. Ono would think an arrangement would be as simple in this case as in bhe one between the Railway and the Eden Terrace Road, for tho construction of the road opposite Kaslett-street; butthoimportancc of Onslow Road appears to be little appreciated, though, as is well known, it is tho shortest road to Onehunga.—lam, etc., Suburban.
