NORTHERN S.S. COMPANY'S FARES.

Sir,—Thia Company advertise in your paper, ab the foot of their time table notices, that "Excursion tickets will ba issued from December Ist available to return up to March 31sb, 1892." Yet if you apply for such a ticket for Whangarei, Parua Bay, etc., you are refused its issue, except ab the ordinary return fare. It is a well-recognised and established rule thab " excursion " tickets should be issued at from single fares, or under. Why this deception ? Echo replies, " Monopoly.''—l am, etc., Fras. W. Boynton.
