DEVONPORT.
The ordinary meeting of the Devonport Borough Council was held last evening, whea there were present: Messrs E. W. Alison (Mayor), presiding, P.I. Niccol, Lankhani, W. Barrett, P. H. Mason and G. lankham.
TiR Wakted.— A letter from the Secrefairy of the Thames Gas Company stated that if the Council's order for tar depended oareturn of casks, it could not be executed. -The Town Clerk submitted an account ■from the Auckland Gas Company, showing thattbe Council had been charged 3d per gallon for tar since Docembor 15th, as compared with 2d per gallon charged prewnsly. The borough was now 2,500 plloti9short of the quantity ordered.—Refeted to theFinanceand Legal Committee. Accousts Audit.—The Auditor-General *Mcd the borough accounts lor the half }«ended September 30th, and certified uato be correct, except in one item of "IDsin cemetery account,viz., interest on ™3raised by the Couucil without consent "tw ratepayers.
