DRAINAGE BOARD ELECTION.

Thames, this day. The election of seven members of the Drainage Board by £he contributing companies took place on Saturday, the poll resulting as follows :—Messrs W. S. Wilson, 35 ; R. Comer, 33 ; J. Friar Clarke, 2S ; James Dickey, 27 ; A. Porter, 24 ; J. S. Kissling, 22 ; R. Sprott, 14 ; James Frater, 11. The first-named seven wero therefore declared duly elected. Mr McGowan was re-elected to represent the Boro_gh Council, and Mr Paltiidge.for the County Council. Strong exception was taken by .both Councils to the item of £208 for travelling expensesappearinginthe balancesheet. It was considered that these should be cur-tailed, as almost the whole of the money ig obtained from call-paying companies. The.new Board is to be approached oa the subject.
