M. Pardon, Governor of New Caledonia, who is on a. *isib to Sydney, has been interviewed. H«> said he had formally assured. Sir Henry Parkea that so far as he can prevent it, not a eingle convict will be allowed to settle in Australia. In New Caledonia, public sentiment against the preeeftt system is growing etronjjly, and its rapid development points to the colony shortly beibg able to stand atone. Hβ hopes cordial relations with Australia will be m&intained.
