SUICIDE OF MAORI.
This afternoon, Inspector Broham received a telegram from Constable Joyce, stationed at Tairua, stating that a Maori named Tautari Fapeta, had committed suicide by hanging himself to the rafts of his whare at Wharekawa. The native was found dead at daylight this morning. An inquest was to be held to-day before Mr Clay, J. P.
This forenoon 8.M.8. Rapid was floated out of the Calliope Graving Dock, having been thoroughly cleaned and re-coppered, She leaves here on Saturday for the New Hebrides, whence she goea «n/to Sydney,
