IN bhe mabter of a Bill intituled an Act to authorise "The New Zealand Electrical Syndicate (Limited)," to break up or cross over streets, roads, rivers, and bridges, and bo place mains, service lines and distributing mains either above or below ground, and to lay down and place pipes, conduits and service pipes, and to erect pillars, arches or poles, and to make, construct and do other works and things for supplying tho city of Auckland and suburbs with electrical enorgy : Nobice is hereby given thab application is intended to be made at bhe next session of tho General Assembly of New Zealand for leave to bring in a Bill to authorise " Tho New Zealand Electrical Syndicate (Ltd.) " hereinafter referred to as " the Company " to place mains, service lines and distributing mains either above or below ground, and to lay down and place pipes, conduits, and service pipes, and to erect pillars, arches, or poles, and to break up or cross over streets, rivers, and bridges, and to make and construct other works for supplying the City of Auckland and suburbs with electrical energy, and for other purposes relating thereto, and to the objects tor which the said Company has been established. Copies of the Bill will be deposited ab bho office of the Examiner of Standing Orders, on or before the commencemenb of bhe session, and mayalsobohaduponapplicabion to Messrs Bell, Gully, and Izard, solicitors, Wellington, Agents for tho Bill, or from the undersigned. It is intended to apply for the following powers on behalf of bhe Company, that is bo say : The Company under bho superintendence of the persons having the control thereof respectively may open and break up or cross over tho soil and pavement of the several i streots, roads, rivers and bridges within the limits ot bhia Act and may open and break up or cross over any sewers, drains or I tunnels within or under such streets rivers and bridges and lay down and place within, or over the same limits, pipes, conduits, and service pipes, and main service linos, and distributing mains, and make, construct, and do other works and things, and from time to time repair, alter, or remove bhe same, and for the purposes aforesaid may remove and use all earth and materials in and under such streets, rivers, and bridges, and may in or on such streets and bridges erect any pillars, arches or poles, lamps and other works, and do all other acta and things which the Company shall from time to time deem necessary for supplying electrical energy within the limits hereinafter mentioned, doing as little damage as may be in the execution of the powers by this Acb granted, aud making compensation for any damage which may be done in the execution of such powers. Thab the Company may from time to time enter into any coiitracb with any r.ersou lor lighting by means of electricity or supplying with electrical" energy- any } public or private buildings, or for provid- i ing any person with pipes, service, mains, translormers, accumulators, conducbors, burners, meters, and lamps, and for the repair thereof, and .may also from time bo time enter into any contract with bhe Mayor and Corporation of Auckland or tho City Council thereof or other persons or body corporate having the Control of any of the streetß, roads, rivor.s, or bridges within the limits aforesaid for lighting the same or auy of them by means of electricity or for supplying tliem with electrical energy, and for providing such Mayor and Corporation, City Council, persons or body corporate wibh lamps, lamp-posts, burners, and pipes, mains, translormers, accumulators or conductors for such purpose and for the repairs thereof in such manner and upon such terms as shall be agreed upon between the Company and the said Mayor and Corporation, City Council, or other persons or body corporate, and the maximum charge to be made tor the actual amount of energy supplied bo any consumer, or for the electrical quantity contained in any such supply, shall be at'or according bo the rates specified in this Act or in the schedules hereto. That bhe Company may let for hiija any meter for ascertaining the quantity of electrical curren tor electrical energy consumeu, absorbed, or supplied, and also any electrical fittings, including transformers for altering tension and accumulators for storing the energy, for such remuneration in money as shall be agreed upon between the Company and any person bo whom bho same may bo so let, and such remuneration shall be recoverable in tho same manner as bho rents or gums duo to the Company for electrical energy supplied, and such meters and fittings shall not bo subject bo distress 4or reub of the premises where bhe same may bo used, nor to be baken in execution under any process or proceeding of a Courb of Law or Equity, or in bankruptcy against the person in whose possession tho same may be. That bhe Clerk, Engineer, or other officer duly appointed for the purpose by the Company may ab all reasonable times enber any building or place supplied by the Company with eloctrical energy, in order to inspect the meters, fittings, transformers, accumulabors, and obhor insbruments or things, and for regulating bhe supply bhereof, and for the purpose of ascertaining the quantity of current or energy consumed, absorbed or supplied, and if any person hinder such officer as aforesaid from entering and making such inspection as atoresaid ab any reasonable time, ho shall for every such offence bo liable bo forfeit a sum nob exceeding five pounds. Thab if any person supplied wibh elecbrical curronb or energy neglecb bo pay bhe renb due for the same to the Company the Company may stop such current or energy from entering the premises of such person by switching the same off or by such means pb bhe Company shall think tit, and may recover the renb duo from such person together with the expense of swibching off the current or eneV-gy and bhe costs of recovering the rent by action in any courb of law of eompetenb jurisdiction. Thab in all cases in which the Company are aubhorised to swibch off and take away the supply of electrical current or enorgy, from any house, building or premises under the provisions of this Act, the Company, their Agents or workmen after giving forty-eighb hours previous nobice in writing to bho occupier, or if no occupier, then after leaving such notice on any portion of the premises may enter into such house, building, or premises between bhe hours of nine in the forenoon and four in the afternoon, and remove and carry away any main.switch, transformer, accumulator, meter, fittingß or other being bhe properby of bhe Company. The Company may make bye-laws or regulations provided bhe same shall nob be repugnanb bo this Acb or to bhe Eiecbric Lines Act, 1884, or bo the Municipal Corporations Acb, 1886, or to any Sbatubory Amendment thereof, or to any Road Board or Counby Acb of bhe General Assembly, or bo any bye-law or regulabion which may now or hereafter be made bhereunder, respectively, and may impose any penalby not exceeding the sum of £5 for bhe breach of any byo-law or regulabion of bhe Company.
