ALBERT STREET BATHS.
(To tho Editor.) Sm,—l am sorry to have to disagree with Mr Thornes, whose objects are no doubb good, bub it is wrong to allow erroneous impressions to get abroad. I repeat the flow was not continuous when fresh water was supplied. It is true a small half-inch pipe tiows into the baths, aboub cne or two thousand, gallons daily, while the baths hold 200,000 gallons !! so that the How cannob be held to be continuous. Also, I never wrote letters opposing more frequenb pumping of salt water. 1 objected to your correspondent wanbing too much and never being satisfied, or so expressing himself until challenged.—l am, etc., Reason. (To the Editor.) Sir,—The absurd dilemma upon which Mr J. Thornes seems to bo standing in connection with the draught ab the Albert-street Baths is, bo a simple and nabural-minded man, exbremoly ridiculous. Would Mr J.-i Thornes have us shut out God's beautiful sunlight and atmosphere altogether 1 Would Mr Thornes have us ignore the sanitary effect of sunlight and atmosphere on the body, and compel us to breathe vitiated atmosphere—to taint our lungs while we perform our ablutions? The prime necessity when caking physical exercise is to have abundance of fresh air. The foolishness of bathing under cover is apparent. Ib is unnabural—ib is violating' nature's laws. Colds are not caused by the change of atmosphere, bub by diseased organism. The superiority of our city baths is in the very fact of its abundance of fresh air and sunlight. Let us nob close this oub, let us not mar the keenness of our enjoyment by swimming in a dismal and dank atmosphere. Hoping the City Coun-. cil will not allow themselves to incur the useless expenditure and deprive the numerous abtendanbs of the cardinal requisites of life —pure air and sunshine, —I am, etc., Albert D. Ska brook.
