HARBOUR BOARD ELECTIONS.
CITY COUNCIL NOMINEES
A meeting of the City Council was held at noon to-day to elect from their number four members of the Harbour Board. The Mayor (Mr J. H, Upton) and Crs. Crowther, Trenwith, and Dignan were chosen. Cr. Smith was also nominated. Messrs A. E. Devore and D. Goldie were formerly members of the Harbour Board, and their places are now tilled by the Mayor and Mr Trenwith. The election of three members of. the Auckland Harbour Board is taking place to-day. Tho candidates are Messrs E. VV. Alison, Andrew Bell, J. Groom, VV. Gunson, T. Henderson, and C. V. Houghton. A good deal of interest is shown in this election, and several of the candidates have Committee-rootus in which is explained to each voter his whole duty as that duty is regarded by the Committee men. The seats are held for two years. The voters are registered owners of vessels and all persons who have paid £3 or over in dues to the Harbour Board. The poll closes at 6 p.m. today. Mr F. L.
