SUB-LETTING GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS.

Wellington, this day. The following instructions have been issued by the Minister of Public Works :— "That in future in general terms and conditions of all Government contracts a clause be inserted thab the in charge and the tilerk of Works be instructed nob to recognise any sub-contracts ; that sub-lefc-ting ivorks, or having same done as piece work, shall be a ground for the cancellation of contract, and penalties of a percentage basis on the value ot the work found to have been done by sub-contract or piece workehall be imposed."
