OVERDUE SHIPS.
(To bhe Editor.)
g IRj The circumstances in connection with the wreck of the Sbrathmore, published in issue of your valued paper, will, ib is to be hoped, awaken publjc interest.m those on board the missing vessels Assaye, Marlborough, and Dunedin. The facts referred to clearly show the possibility of some of the passengers or crewa of these ships being in similar unfortunate circumstances. Could nob the matter be urged upon the proper authorities? Ib is true the Government have, already decided not to send a special steamer to search for survivors of the Assaye, but probably, if the public showed more interest in the matter, the Government would not bo found wanting in what appears a duty. Truly, this is a "cause bhablacks assistance."—l am, etc., Humanity.
