SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
A LUMPER INJURED,
This morning a very serious accident occurred at the Railway Wharf on board the Union Company's steamer Manapouri. A man named Brady, employed as a lumper, was working at the vessel's cargo, which was being discharged, when he somehow slipped as he was standing near tho main-hatch and fell down to the bottom of the hold, a distance of some 35 feet. The unfortunate man was picked up unconscious, evidently very badly hurt. His skull appeared to be injured. Ho was promptly removed to the Hospital in a cab. Brady is a married man, and reside? in Jor-myn-street.
On being taken to the Hospital Brady was carefully examined to ascertain the extent of his injuries, and it was found that hia wrist waa broken, and that ho was badly bruised about the body. He was, however, quito conscious, and this afternoon was as well as could be expected.
