At a mooting of the Chamber of Commerc 0 the President read extracts from a letter received by his firm (Levin and «°.) from tho London correspondent on New Zealand hemp as follows :—" Ono of rae United Kingdom ropemaker3 has been telling us that ho has recently, and for the urst time, used some fully fair New Zealand nentp to mako twine for an order Previously filled with sisal and Manilla. He is very pleased with the results, and indeed tells us (and he is probably best ropeWaker in the United Kingdom) that ho finds Aew Zealand hemp has been bettar than or manilla. Ho urges millers to improve tho quality of the fibre, so that the industry might become a permanent one."
