(B_ TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, this day. In the Supreme Court, before the Chief Justice, J. Jameison, manager and director of the Commercial Trust and Loan Company, claims £500 damages from Samuel W. Falkner, a clerk, for alleged libel contained in a letter senb by defendanb bo plaintiff's employers, accusing bhe labber of having embezzled the moneys of his former employers, the South Pacific Loan Company. The case will occupy the whole day. About 10' clock this morning a convict named Alfred Hall, while Woiking ab bhe gravel pit, Mounb Eden, succeeded in escaping. He was re-arrested about 12 o'clock on Mr McKellar's -property by Warders Crook and O'Donoghuo. Hall was Under sentence for two years, and had only six months more to do.
