MR R. COAD.

o HIS FAREWELL MEETING.

To-morrow evening Mr 11. Coad takes his final leave of the colony, and will deliver his famous lecture on "Temper," in the St. James's Hall, at half-past 7 o'clock. This " farewell " will, from what wo hear, be somewhat of a spicy character, lb ia said that ho delineates as many as 120 phases of temper in men, women, and children. He gives advice how to cure a sullen and bad temper, and guarantees to make one almost as mild as an angel. Ho believes that- his cure will encircle the whole being of the most villainous temper and turn the lion into a lamb. He has been labouring in tho colony for nine months, and the following. . record of his work should be read with inberesb. The firsb three months he was a deputational lecturer to the New Zealand Alliance, and in ninety days he travelled 1,200 miles, and held 115 meetings. Most of these wero greatly crowded.. At Christchurch nearly 2,000 crowded in to hear his lecture on "Billy Bray." At Dunedin the City Hall was crowded every night for 12 nights. At Ciiristchurch he has held 75 meetings, 40 of these in the largest hall in the city. In all he has held 315 meetings in the colony. The success bas been very great ; near two thousand havo signed tho temperance pledge, and more than a thousand havo entered the inquiry rooms to seek salvation. Ho has lectured on behaif of the Good Templars, the Rechabites, the Sons of Tomperance, and also for the Women's Christian Temperance Union. He has stirred up thousands of the people to the importance of prohibition of the liquor traffic by local option. He has quickened Christian work in many places, and many have been added to tho churches. He has left a good balance to tho funds of tho New Zealand Alliance. He has made many life-long friends. At Dunedin the ladies of the Women's Christian Temperance Union presented him with a beautiful illustrated album containing a large number of New Zealand views. Pastor Birch presides to-morrow night, and no doubb a big audience will greet the lecturer. Mr R. Coad gave a most powerful and interesting address at the Helping Hand Mission "Hall last evening to a good audience. He speaks at Freeman's Bay tonight for.the last time.
