The jury in Miall's case Were unable to agree, and were discharged. A freSh jury will be empannellcd for a second trial. In tho course of the proceedings, Mr Justice Williams said ifc might be desirable that the law should give a judge power to discbaige a jury when he saw no probability of their agreement.
Invercargill, this day.
A six-roomed house andall its contents, the property of Wm. AfSick, was destroyed by tire at two o'clock bhis morning ab Otautau. The loss is £500. No insurance.
