FEARFUL RIDE DOWN A STEEP
INCLINE.

Tβ Aroha, this day; A sad accident happened at Waiorongomai yesterday afternoon, whereby a man named Richard Hall was killed. Deceased wad coming down to the township from the , mines, and at the top of a very steep selfacting grade, the county tramway knownas the Fern Spur, he mounted the truck full of quartz which was being sent down, but) the truck had only gone a short distance when the wire rope parted and the truck went down at fearful speed and waa smashed to pieces before reaching the bottom. Hall was killed almost instantaneously, and the body was dreadfully crushed. An inquest will be held to dajf before Mr Ilott, J.P.
