CRICKET TEAM FROM SYDNEY.

A meeting of the Committee of the Auckland Cricket Association was held on Monday evening last to consider the proposal received by cable from Sydney to send a team from that town to New Zealand, playing at Auckland on the 27th and 28th inst.

It iB somewhat unfortunate that our r*> presentative team will at that time b« travelling in the South, but the Committee decided to do all in their power to assist the Sydney men in their proposed trip, and offered them yesterday by cable two-thirds of the net proceeds of the match. Though some of our best players will be absent, a good team can be chosen from those remaining; and it is only right that these latter should have a chance of learning aa much as possible from the Sydney men. The Auckland Cricket Association is not a very rich body, but the terms it offers compare very favourably with those offered by Dunedin. The Association there, which has never been at the expense of an inter* provincial tour, states that ifc can ofier na gate-money—and this at Exhibition time, when there is sure to be a large attend-' ance.

The team which proposes to visib Auckland ia to be chosen from the Sydney. Cricket Union, pomposed of what are there: called Juniors: These juniors are, however,' well able to hold their own with many of the Senior clubs, and have done so before now, so that Aucklanders may expecb to, see some good cricket.
