Arrangements are being made for an entertainment in aid of the funds for levelling and laying out the grounds around St. Mary's"Cathedral Church, Parnell. it is to be held next Tuesday evening. The programme will include vocal and instrumental music and recitations, and amongst those who have promised to assist are Mi?s Whitaker, Mrs Cooper, Messrs MeyseyThompson," Maclean and other&. A special sitting of the R.M. Court was hold this afternoon to take the evidence of Mr Smethurst, in Smebhurat v. Parson—for the purpose of forwarding it to Helensville, where the summons was issued, and where the case will be heard. Mr C. F. Buddie appeared for plaintiff and Dr. Laishley for defendant.
