BIRKENHEAD AND NORTHCOTS FRUITGROWERS' SOCIETY.
ANNUAL SHOW,
The annual show in connection with the above society took place in the Gladstone Hall, Northcote, to-day. Thera was a splendid show of fruit and vegetables, the feature of the show being a very large display of apples. The exhibits of flowers were not so numerous, but the few shown were very creditable. Up to 2 p.m. the following prize awards had been made. POT PLANTS. ' One Single Specimen.—N. Swindall, Ist prize. Two Palms (distinct).— R. Thompson, Ist prize. Two Fine Foliage Plants.—Mr Willows, 2nd prize : no first prize. One Specimen Fine Foliage Plant.—Mr Williams, 2nd prize ; no first. Three Native Plants (distinct). — IN. Swindall, 2nd prize ; no first. One Fern Specimen.—Mr Willows, Ist prize ; Mr Wilson, 2nd prize. Three Ferns (distinct).— H. Swindale, Ist prize ; Mrs Willows, 2nd prize. Two Coleus.—J. Weal, Ist prize; Mrs Neal, 2nd prize. Three Balsams(distinct).— Mr Rawhnson. 2nd prize; no first. The show was opened at 2 o'clock this afternoon by Mr Button, Mayor of Birkenhead, and will be kept open this evening when a large number of visitors are expected from town.
