ANOTHER FIRE.

Another outbreak of fire took place in the 6hop of Mr W. S. Jones, saddler, Queenstreet, about 9.30 p.m. yesterday, where, it) may be remembered, there was a similar occurrence on the night of the 10th of January|'last. The fire on this occasion was discovered by some passers-by, whose attention, was attracted by volumes of smoke seen issuing between the shutters. Constable Davy appeared on the scene five minutes jlater and assisted to break open the shutters; Superintendent Hughes and the Fire Brigade arrived on the scene shortlyafterwards, and close behind then were tfie Salvage Corps, under Captain Field. :.The fire v/hen first discovered seemed .to have a pood hold, and ap-peared-to'have originated in one of a number.-.of drawers containing miscellaneous material. The application of a few buckets of water put an end to all danger, and then an examination of the premises was made. Ifc was found that the drawer in. whicb;the fire had originated contained general goods, some paper, and pieces of some material resembling wax, all of which were taken possession of by Detective Hughes,;under instructions from Inspector Brohanv^whp was also present. The fire was confined to several drawers and their contents," and the damage done will be covered by a few pounds. Mr Jones says he cannot account for the fire.
