LICENSING COURT.
AUCKLAND SOUTH.
The quarterly meeting of the Auckland. South Licensing Bench was held at noon to-day. Present: — Messrs D. Goldie (Chairman), J. Caradus, Philip Crowe, P. Herepath, and R. Tudehope The police report on the various hotels in the district was very satisfactory. The only application allowed was for the transfer of the license of the Rising: Sun HoteMrom John Darby to William Easdown, A temporary transfer had been granted from last December, and this was now confirmed. The Chairintin stated that it was the determination of the Committee to have the law carried out in its integrity. They intended to take steps bo put a stop to Sunday trading and breaking the regulations as to hours. Ib was well that all should receive fairwarning, for the Committee would punish all transgressors either by ousting the licensee or forfeiting the license. One of the committees had arranged to obtain independent evidence from an outside source, which would be considered at the next sitting, besides the police report, and this would probably be done in the Auckland South district as well.
