SEAMEN'S STRIKE
AMICABLE SETTLEMENT OF THE NORTHERN COJtfPANY'S DISPUTE,
TERMS OF SETTLEMENT.
TiiK terms upon which the long-stand-ing dispute between tho .Seamen's Union and Northern Steamship Company has beeu settled were finally adopted by both parties this morning. Tho Jubiloo Steamship Company will withdraw from opposition immediately, and the steamer Stormbird will leave tor Wellington to-night. Arrangements have been made with the Northern Company by which thoy will carry all passengers who hold return tickets from tho Jubilee Company. In the terms of settlement concessions have been made on both fcidca. The Seamen's Union i conceded their demands for payment of overtime, and the system of " time - for - time," which we have previously explained, will be adopted in its atead. On the other hand, so lar as we can ascertain, the Northern concede all the principal point 9 ntised. Union wages are to be paid on all steamers and all non-6ociety men are to bo discharged. No compensation has been awarded, each side standing its own losses in the strike.
