The Rotorua telegraph linetnan, Henry Bushey, left Rotorua on horseback to inspect the line to Orakei-Korako on Monday morning, , He should _ have met the Taupo line-maia there in the evening. Nob turning up the Taupo lineman according ,'to regulations laid ■ down for them came right through to Rotorua rarriving here about 6 _p.ni. on' Tuesday. On reporting not Saving met the R torua' lineman, Mr Daiieey s suspicions M bo so'me.pbing being wrong were irh: medbately aroused, and he proceeded out at 8 p.m. and searched all niehb'till ben the following morning. Finding io tiar'«B of Bushey he returned quite puzzled bub this ia now ■accounted for by the fact that Bushey was advised by a friend to leave the inspection of the first ten miles for his return journey, as the country is rough and much torn about by water courses siuce the eruption. It is therefore thought ho went by the^Waio-/ tapu Road, lb was Mr Bushey s first trip alpng this section of the line.
