, Wellington, this day. ;MR McCALLtJM'S DAIRY REPORT. Ten thousand copies /of Mr Richardson'B pamphlet, containing Mr McCallum's report on dairy factories and other papers relating to the dairy industry, have been struck off at the Go vernmont Printing Office for gratuitous circulation in the colony. . THE, MONGOOSE. It was suggested some time ago that the East Indian mongoose should be introduced to tho colony as a means of contending with the rabbit nuisance, but a file of correspondence jusb received by, the Lands Department from the Agent - General shows that the remfedy Would : be worse than the disease. Experfcswho have been been consulted speak of the mongoose as a rapacious creature ; which would attaqk poultry and oven lambs, and which, if once: established in the colpny, would . become a greater nuisance than the rabbits themselves. :-": ''"'"'■■ "■," '' ;:'":'"'' , .
