OUR GOLDFIELDS.

Thames, this day. Cambria.—The mine manager reports that the drive is now in a distance of 40 feed from the cross-cut at No 4 level, which leaves other 25 feet to be driven to the point where the drive will ba turned to drive straight across the claim for the winze sunk on No. 7 leader. This latter drive will cub all the leadors at right angles. The remaining 25 feet will be completed in about another 7 days, when the drive across the claim above alluded to will ba commenced. The tee drive is going through a splendid class of country for goldbearing leaders. The winze on the main reef on the intermediate level east is down a depth of 21 feet. Gold was seen freely through the quartz in the hanging wall portion of the reef yesi© da} a when 4 pounds of picked stone came to iianu.

Trenton.—Abhough the hard rock still continues in the bottom of the shaft, ib may give out at any time, as the operations of the company through the Saxon determined that the auriferous strata of country will be met with in the shaft long before it is sunk to its intended depth.

New Alburnia. — The mine manager reports :—" During the past week work has been continued in the stope3 above tha battery level on what is known aa Job's leader. This improves as tha stopes are carried east; although no great hauls of picked stone are coming to hand, still gold is seen at every breaking down. About 101b of picked stone have been saved for the week, and the quartz coming to hand is of a payable characber. New Manuka..—The mine manager reports : The No. 5 stope is turning out good payable dirt. Mulligan's leader is now making in the back of stope west of the winze on the third stope. I have started to open up a block east of the winze to boundary, for I find I cannot make end ground ab bhe winze, so it will be advisable to extend the block the eastern boundary, when 1 can take out the small leaders met with in the footwall, and some of bhem look very promising for gold. They will pay to bake out when opened out in this way.

Saxon.— The No. 1 footwall leader has not yet been cut in the crosscut at No. 3 level, bub it should be to hand any shift.

Waiotahi.—The monthly cleaning up produced 2470z lOdwb of gold'from 200 tons of quartz.
