HEAVY GALE ON THE COAST

New Plymouth, this day, The Hawea is still in the same position. The weateer outside is bad, and a long heavy roll, which generally follows the bail' end of a gale, has been coming in. This has had the effect of knocking the funnel out of the steamer during the nighb. Captain Bendall went aboard this morning and found the vessel working from side to sfde. His opinion is thab she has worked, through the sand and is now on a hard bottom. Tho weather is squally but the vessel is well sheltered by the breakwater.
