COLONIAL OFFICES INVOLVED.
The Hawea was valued at £13,000. She was insured for £3,000 at Home, £2,000 in the colonial offices, the Union Company taking the balance of risks, viz., £8,000,
Mr Mills is arranging that the Wakatipu shall bring up the 'Frisco mail from Lyttelton on Friday night, the Takapuna being put into commission for the purpose of taking up the Hawea's usual running. It is a curious coincidence that Mr Bannatync, tho Chief Engineer of the Hawea, was Chief Engineer of the Taranaki when finally wrecked off Tauranga in 1878.
PASSENGERS ON BOARD. The Hawea left Onehunga early on 'Monday morning, and had very few passengers. With the exception of a few who had return tickets the following is a complete list of those booked for Auckland : Mr Keith, Edgecombe, G. Scarfe,, Captain Tippettt, Mr Reid, Miss Kennedy, daughter of Captain Kennedy, and Miss Andrews. TWO RACEHORSES LOST. Allegro, the winner of the Great Northern Steeplechase on Saturday last at Ellerslie, and Armourer were shipped at Onehunga just before the vesselstarted, and itis believed they are drowned. Mr Keith, owner, and the jockey of Armourer were also on board. Messrs L. D. Nathan had some 65 packages on board valued at £200 which were uninsured. LIST OF OFFICERS. The officers of the vessel are :—Capt. Hansby; chief officer, Mr W. Walker; secopd officer, Mr Duder; purser, Mr Beaumont; chief engineer, Mr Ballentine ; second engineer, Mr Massey; chief steward, Mr Nasmyth. THE CARGO. For New Plymouth : 65 packages, L. D< Nathan and Co.; 39 cases and packages, Brown, Barrett and Co; 2 cases, P. Hayman and Co.; 12 horses, Keith; 1 horse > Millington. For Nelson: 1 case, Hooton; 1 case, Northern Boot Company; 1 package, Auckland Sfar ; 1 case, Bernard. For Lyttelton : 1 case, Auckland Star ; 1 roll leather, C. Weaver. For Blenheim : 1 case, J. Mason ;' 1 parcel, Cunningham. Por Dunedin : 1 package, Scherffj 20 sack oysters, Wells; 1 package, Auckland Star.
