The landslip in Hobson-streeb appears to have been rather a series of landslips than one big one. The unoccupied house belonging to Mr J. B. Graham, and leased by Mr Carey, has gently skated from the top of the hill into the roadway, carrying with ib a large mass of earth. The adjoining house is owned by Mr Craig. Last week it .was improved, a brick wall having been erected, together with fencing and steps. These latter were also swept away, also similar improvements lately pub to the next house, which is owned by Mr L. B. Nathan. The house at the corner of Hobson and Swanson-streets is the property of MrE. V. Martin, by whomitwasoccuped. This was also damaged by the slide. Mr Martin recently sloped his property from the road to a grade of 1 in 15. He also added a flight of sbep and a verandah to the premises. In consequence of the water being diverted by a heap of large stones in Hobson-street, the storm water rushed over this property and the earth slipped from beneath the verandah and several of the supports of the house were swept away. Mr Martin is evidently a man who can take a hint, for he has decided to remove from his house. The other buildings are'fortunately unoccupied.
