Writ of Prohibition.— Hitiri te Paerata v. J. E. Macdonald and Another.—This was a motion by Mr Brookfield that a writ of prohibition should be issued, commanding the defendants to abstain from signing any order? or certificates of title to any person or persons of the block of land called Taupotuiiabia, or any portion thereof. —Mr Theo. Cooper appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr C. E. Button for the defendants. It had been arranged that His Honor should give directions as to service of notice, some 5,000 persons being interested, and after argument by counsel His Honor ordered that notice should be given to all persons interested under the orders of certificates of title sought to be restrained, by publication of notice in the Maori language in the "Kaliiti" at least six weeks before June 27th, which date is fixed for hearing—the Minister of Lands and Native Minister to bo served personally. A Similar Application.—A writ of prohibition was also moved for in Taonui Hikaka v. J. E. Macdonald and Another.— Mr Hesketh for plaintiff and Mr Button for defendants.—This matter was on the same footing as that already dealt with. Similar directions were given by His Honor.
