MAJOR DANE'S LAST LECTURE.
SOME IMPRESSIONS OF NEW
ZEALAND,
Major Dane sails for Australia and England on Tuesday, and although he promises to return andvisifc us some years hence it may be a long time before we have him with us again. He has been in this colony a lon^ time now and studied ib thoroughly, and on Monday night he will give us his impressions of ib from many points of view, and being an Ainekcan, and having seen the development of a new country all his life, he should be more than qualified to speak with weight on our beautiful, but depressed islands. He will toll us what he thinks of our railways, our debts, our institutions, our scenery, our pastoral interests, our land question, our working men, and last, but not least, our future. It will be a lecture, therefore, that everyone should hear, and we doubt no 1; that the Major will give some practical suggestions with regard to the future which every man should hear, and we trust that a hearty reception will be given to the great lecturer, on this his last night amongst us.
