The Ponsonby Regatta.
Great interest has been taken in the revival of the Ponsonby Regatta, until the last two seasons one of our most popular aquatic fixtures, which is to take place on Monday. The energetic Secretary (Mr A. H. Joneß) and the hard- working Committee have clone their best to make it interesting, and no doubt their efforts will be crowned with success. A very extensive and varied programme has been prepared, and on ie are a number of novel events which have never before been witnessed on the Waitemata. The regatta starts at ten o'clock on Monday morning,when the fourton yachts will be dismiss.! by tho starter. The s.s. Clansman is to acfc as flagship and will b. moored between Shelly Btach and Stokes s Point. In order to enable the public to gob to her tha s.s. Maori has been chartered and will make periodical trips to her from tho Queen-street Wharf ab 9.30 aod 11.30. a.m.. and 2 p.m., and from the Ponsonby Wharf at 10.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m., other trips being m»de if necessary. Greater interest will be added to the events by the fact that a champion flag, prcaented by Miss Joies, will be awarded to the cempottbor who obtains the largest number of wins. The Secretary has done everything possible bo provide for the- cemforfc of thoso who visit the flagship, and there will without doubt be * large attendance. The entries all round have been very satisfactory, and there is promise of good contests in each race. The racing dingies for youths under 21 should be very exciting, as it will bo keenly contested by _no less than seven competitors. It is to be hoped that the clerk of the I weather will be in a good humour on Monday, and not spoil a good day's sport Iby either raiQ pr to. much wind,
