DEATH OF CONSTABLE O'SHEA.
Constable Corneli >us O'Shka, ono of the most popular men ot tho Auckland police force, died at Park Houso, Victoria-street ) at 1 o'clock this afternoon, after a long and trying illness. Constable O'Shea was a native of Cork, and joined the forco at Dunedin about ten years a<?o. It is believed that whilst engaged in the execution of his duty in securing the bodies washed ashore from tho wreck of the Tararua,ho contracted a sevoro cold, which brought on consumption, which was actually the cause of his death. He was a very well-informed man, and for the last three or four years ho has hold tho position of clerk in Sergeant Pratt's office hero. He strovo bravely with his infliction, but had to take to his bed a few weeks ago, and lie was not able to rise again. His death is sincerely regretted by every member of the constabulary, and also by a largo circle of other acquaintances.
